Can I Return Products in Egypt? Your Rights

Last updated 7/5/20260 viewsProvisional

You can return or exchange products within 14 days of receipt for a full refund without cost or reason, except for perishables, custom goods, and items damaged by you.

Yes. The law grants you the right to exchange or return the product and recover its cash value, without giving any reason and without bearing any costs, within fourteen days of receiving it (art. 17). This right does not prejudice any better guarantees or terms for you, and the Authority may set shorter periods for certain goods.

However, there are exceptions where return is not allowed, including (art. 17):

  • Where the nature or packaging of the goods prevents return or makes it impossible to restore them to their condition at contract time.
  • Fast-perishable consumer goods.
  • Where the goods are no longer in the same condition as at sale for a reason attributable to you.
  • Goods made to your own special specifications and conforming to them.
  • Books, newspapers, magazines, software and the like.

The supplier must display a statement of your exchange and return rights in a visible place inside the point of sale (art. 18). In case of dispute, the matter is referred to the Consumer Protection Authority, which issues a binding decision (art. 52).
